Abstract:
(Critical) This program demonstrates a videotape playback technique for use in a family therapy session. Actors simulate an improvised group family session to illustrate the approach, and interpretations of non-verbal cues observed in their interaction are discussed. Although the impression is conveyed that these interpretations are well documented, in reality the state of the research may not be well developed, and this really displays a personal style more than an actual technique. These practices are open to debate and subject to misinterpretation. Aside from occassional unclear images, the technical quality is quite good. This program is recommended for use in demonstrating the use of playback in therapy.
