Abstract:
(Critical) This is a carefully developed step-by-step instructional module for constructing orthoplast resting splint. Equal emphasis is given to all aspects of fabrication, including precautions, special considerations, positioning, and attention to patient's needs, indications for use, and timing of various steps. Reinforcement of the splint to maintain rigidity at areas of anticipated stress is neglected, and better timing and preparation are possible for certain steps. All the details are clearly photographed and explained in a orderly format. The presentation is highly recommended for an occupational therapy curriculum.
