Abstract:
(Producer) This program discusses use of the nightguard and demonstrates two methods of constructing the appliance. The habit of bruxism is identified and the consequences of unconsciously clenching or grinding the teeth are described. Placement of the nightguard between the upper and lower teeth in order to disrupt the neuro-muscular reflex leading to bruxism and its undesirable consequences is demonstrated. The program is intended for use as part of a course on occlusion, and, in conjunction with its study guide, for use a supplemental study or for review purposes.
