This episode delves into the psychological aspects of dealing with a terminally ill patient. Mr. Brown, a man dying from prostate cancer, is frequently used as an example. He is physically paralyzed, in pain, and depressed, as he feels he is living only a portion of his former life. His marriage comes under strain due to lack of privacy for patients staying in the hospital long-term. One of the speakers in the film recommends sending a terminally ill patient back home so his or her final days can be spent in peace. Another speaker stresses the importance of making a hospital environment as homey as possible.
