(Producer) This program defines floppy babies as having muscular weakness and hypotonia. It gives the two major categories of hypotonia, cerebral and paralytic and discusses some of the nonparalytic forms of hypotonia. The program presents facts on testing and genetic counseling in cases where the mother is a possible carrier. and This presentation introduces various physical disorders among children, as well as their treatment options. These disorders include hypoxia, muscular dystrophy, and other similar diagnoses. The presenter highly recommends genetic counseling; with renewed information about their child's disorders, parents are able to prepare their environments and learn to be patient with their child's progress. The presenter takes care to note that for some parents, raising a disabled child is highly rewarding, and not every parent would want to terminate their pregnancy in this situation. Several microscopic images as well as informational slides are also presented.
