Abstract:
(Critical) The module, part of a self-instructional series in ophthalmology, discusses fundamental diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Emphasis is placed on maneuvers in which motion is important. Confrontation visual field testing, corneal examination, examination of pupil checking the anterior chamber depth, motility, basic screening, installation of eyedrops, eyelid eversion, eye patching, superficial foreign body removal, irrigation, and ocular massage are discussed anddemonstrated. The production is unique, concise, clear and cogent. It is highly recommended for medical students, family practitioners, emergency medicine physicians, as a synopsis of ophthalmogic techniques which the nonophthalmologist is likely to employ in a day-to-day practice. and This program provides instructions for several ophthalmologic procedures. Examples of these procedures include corneal examination, motility, basic screening, instillation of eye drops, and patching. For each of these procedures, instructional slides as well as videos of patients at their appointments are used to guide the viewer. Each appointment is narrated with step-by-step instructions.
