This video presents several sessions with a married couple. The couple has a child with cystic fibrosis and wants to know the options and risks for future pregnancies. The program explains that any child the couple conceives will have a 25 percent chance of having cystic fibrosis. With these odds, couples may find themselves considering different options including sterilization, abortion, or raising multiple children with a serious chronic illness. The couple is also advised that with the rise of legal abortions, adopting may be more difficult in the United States. Although the general topics are the same with each medical professional, each session is slightly different.
