Abstract:
(Critical) This program presents an overview of the anatomy and etiology of epistaxis including indications for, and techniques of, anterior and posterior nasal packing. A discussion of ligation of the internal maxillary, ethmoidal and carotoid arteries is contained within as well as causes for nosebleed and a review of common errors in patient management. This program is a well done unit which is highly recommended as introductory material for the medical student in dealingwith common otolaryngologic problems and medical emergencies.
