Abstract:
This US Army Medical Department Continuing Education Program is a lecture by LTC Jimmy A. Light, Assistant Chief of Organ Transplant Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Col. Light discusses perfusion induced immune injury associated with organ preservation. While organ preservation has provided a breakthrough in expanding transplantation, it is important to avoid damaging the kidneys. Failure to do so may result in rejection of a kidney after autografting. A slideshow presents case data and photographs of perfused and transplanted tissue.
