Abstract:
This is a lecture on viral hepatitis, primarily types A and B, and related research to develop vaccines to prevent these infections. The presenter states that as of May 1, 1975, no one has successfully developed a vaccine for either disease. However, the development of effective vaccinations against polio in the 1950s provided encouragement for continued research. Scientists have extracted particles from infected livers and human stool as well as conducted experiments on primates in their efforts to create a vaccine. The presentation ends with a brief question-and-answer session.
