Abstract:
This 1977 program is a lecture from Dr. Paul Williams, an orthopedic surgeon from Dallas, Texas. After an explanation and comparison of the different skeletomuscular systems of humans and other primates, Dr. Williams presents x-rays, diagrams, and photographs of various patients with both healthy and abnormal lumbosacral regions of the spine, with commentary on the causes and symptoms of these conditions. The ways in which people carry themselves and position their bodies has a profound effect, which is illustrated both by the slides and by demonstrations from Dr. Williams himself, using his own body. Later in the lecture, he describes exercises and medical equipment that can be used to relieve low back pain.
