- Abstract:
- (Critical) This program focuses on the symptomatology of epidermal ovarian tumors and the use of radiation and chemotherapy in treatment. A review of drugs is accompanied by a discussion of their side effects and the need to monitor patient reaction. Overlooked is the importance of staging and grading histologically. The need to examine the diaphragm for tumors and the examination of liver, pelvic, and periaortic nodes is not discussed. Overall, this is a poorly coordinated and opinionated program which cannot be recommended. The strip technique is presented as the only way to treat the entire abdomen, while no mention is made of the open sealed technique. Unnecessary, repeated showings of a pelvic exam are unrelated to the topic. and This film is a brief overview of ovarian cancer and its treatment. Topics include standard methods of detecting ovarian cancer (such as cervical examinations or ultrasounds) and treatments for the illness. Often, this is a combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Video clips of patients and their doctors during examinations and surgeries are included.
