South America - Abstract:
- Documentary film that profiles family planning, overpopulation, and environmental policies in Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Venezuela. Film argues that our modern culture has lost its connection to indigenous ways and customs, which has created an imbalance between humans and nature. The Incan character of the Andes and the indigenous ties to the land serves as a contrast to the radical changes of the present day. Produced by the Centro de Diálogo Inter-Americano. Featured speakers include: Maria Elena de Crovo (Ministra de Trabajo y Seguridad Social de Colombia), Alberto Lleras Camargo (Former President of Colombia, 1945-1946 and 1958-1962), Diego Arria (Governor of the Federal District of Caracas, 1974-1977 who went on to hold other offices such as the Permanent Representative of Venezuela in the United Nations).
