Health care coverage, access, and affordability for children and parents: new findings from March 2018
At a Glance. (1) Health insurance coverage gains occurred between 2013 and 2018 for children and parents, following implementation of the Affordable Care Act's key coverage provisions. (2) These coverage gains have coincided with improvements in health care access and affordability. (3) Although parents experienced larger gains in coverage relative to children, parents were three times as likely as children to be uninsured in 2018, and nearly one-third of low-income parents in states that have not expanded Medicaid remain uninsured.
