Black and white photograph of Mrs. Katharine Kip, who, with her husband Ira, purchased Leek Island in 1904 for their summer estate. When Canada entered WWI, Katharine volunteered the family's estate to the Canadian government as "a hospital for returned wounded soldiers of the Dominion."
