This postcard is a black and white studio portait of a munitions worker. She is wearing a long dark trench-style uniform, belted at the waist, a dark cap, and black stockings and shoes. Her right hand is in a pocket. There is a white "v" on her left sleeve. The triangular pin on her uniform is the 1916 On War Service badge. These badges were worn by civilians during WWI to indicate that they were engaged in important war-related work. This 1916 pin was issued only to women working in munitions and arms factories.
