Abstract:
Advertisement for Phosphatine Falières. Card features a color illustration of two women representing Truth and Fable/Lies. Fable is blonde and standing to the right. She is wearing a red dress with many decorations of gold and jewels, and a flower-patterned cloth around her waist. She is wearing a feathered crown and holding a staff with a cap and bells. Truth is a brunette standing left of Fable. She is naked except for a yellow cloth wrapped around her, and is holding a small hand mirror. They are both standing by stone stairs with trees in the background, within an oval. Behind the oval is a stone well with flowers growing on the frame above. By the base of the well is a bucket, hand mirror, mask, cloth, fan, and jester stick. On the back is the poem "La fable et la vérité" from the Fables of Florian, and another image of Truth and Fable. The black and white illustration shows a naked Truth sitting on a stone well with a hand mirror, and the fancily-dressed Fable. Above, around the poem, is a green border made of ribbons, a hand mirror, and jester stick.
