A portrait of Robert Palmer Howard, who was a professor at the McGill University of Medicine from 1852 to 1882 and Dean from 1882 to his death. An important figure in the the history of Canadian medicine, Howard was influential in William Osler's medical education and development and, along with William Johnson and James Bovell, is considered one of Osler's greatest teachers. Howard's grandson and namesake, the son of his son Campbell, was later the author of several biographical works on Osler's life and career.. [Description courtesy of McGill University.]
