Typhoid fever, a common (and sometimes deadly) intestinal disease, was one of Osler's longstanding clinical interests. This sketch of Ward E at Johns Hopkins Hospital showed where the typhoid patients were located, and noted their possible exposure to "M," who was probably "patient zero.". Item contains handwritten identifications of the various patients. The patient surnames on this sketch have been redacted because the Privacy Board of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutes judged them to be protected health information.
