William Osler, Francis J. Shepherd, and George Ross, photographed circa 1878 when all three were professors of medicine at McGill Medical School. The three directors were close friends at this time and often in each others' company. Shepherd and Osler were also students together, and Osler later encouraged Shepherd to write "Reminscences of Student Days and Dissecting Room" (published privately), about their days as students at McGill University Medical School..
