Abstract:
Dr. DeBakey met with Russian president Boris Yeltsin during this visit, and signed copies of the Russian edition of "The New Living Heart" (which he co-authored with Dr. Antonio Gotto). In 1996, DeBakey had consulted with Yeltsin's physicians on the feasibility of doing a coronary bypass operation, which was performed by Dr. Renat S. Akchurin. Dr. Akchurin next to DeBakey in this photo.. AGIO Pharmaceuticals is a Russian based company formed in 1991 "to augment a focused approach towards global pharmaceutical brand marketing." The company operates in Europe, Asia, and Africa, and has a strong presence in the Indian domestic market.
