Abstract:
Fogarty introduced HR 9579, and Frank Thompson of NJ submitted HR 6050; a clean bill--HR 9460--was then introduced to the Labor and Education Committee, with Fogarty as co-sponsor. This HR discussion is an excerpt that begins with Fogarty's comments. Note the statement submitted by the HR Republican policy committee on p. 23109 criticizing the bill as hasty and ill-considered, and protesting federal domination of these areas a la the Soviet Union. PL-209 (based on the companion bill, S. 1483) was signed 9/29/1965.
