Abstract:
Residents, staff, and visitors at the Hansen's Disease Center in Carville, Louisiana celebrate Mardi Gras with a wheelchair, bicycle, and float parade in a main hall at the center, with Darryl Broussard as master of ceremonies. Participants ride or propel decorated two- and three-wheel bikes and wheelchairs, with floats attached. Most participants are in costume. Further activities take place outside, including a live music performance and more floats on parade.
