- Abstract:
- This film, presented by American Leprosy Missions, focuses on the work of the Schieffelin Leprosy Research and Training Center in Karigari, India. The causes, symptoms, and effects of leprosy are described, and various people who have suffered from and are being treated for the disease are shown. The most common drug used to fight leprosy is diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS), though newer drugs are being tested. Patients are educated by the center's workers on how to best take care of themselves, and ongoing tests are administered to determine the course of each individual's treatment.
