- Abstract:
- As part of a "Care of the Insensitive Foot Seminar," Dr. Paul Brand discusses one of his specialized interests in the treatment of Hansen's disease--how to diagnose and manage loss of sensation in limbs that results from nerve damage. Hands, feet, arms, and legs can suffer considerable injury from this effect of the disease, with loss of limbs common. Dr. Brand discusses the progress that has been made in treating the disease overall, as well as the challenges of patients who don't always realize they are exacerabating their condition by overstressing limbs in daily life.
