This video is aimed at new arrivals for treatment at the National Hansen's Disease Center in Carville, Louisiana. Staff members provide information about the origins, symptoms, complications, and treatment of Hansen's disease. They also address living arrangements, length of stay, the history of Carville as a leprosarium, and the staff's commitment to patient comfort. An overview of drug treatments, physical therapy, the eye clinic, and remarks from director Dr. John Trautman are included.
