Part of a series dedicated to highlighting advances in neurosciences and brain research, this lecture is part of Symposium V: the Aging Brain, Alzheimer's and New Perspectives. Allen D. Roses presents his research, which focuses on the Alzheimer's gene, chromosome 19, and specific proteins. He notes that a person can be tested for Alzheimer's, and specific alleles identified, but the extent of risk for the disease can't be determined. Especially in the absence of clear symptoms, there is no definitive prediction of who is, or will be, affected. There is a question and answer segment led by Dr. Malvin Sabshin.
