Abstract:
Advertisement for Alcool de Menthe de Ricqlès. Card features a color illustration by Henry Gerbault (1863-1930) of a patient and a servant/nurse with a huge syringe. The patient has an oversize white night shirt and slippers on and is standing by a bed, frowning. A man in a black outfit with a white apron is entering the room, holding the syringe. The illustration is a visual depiction of the proverb, "Desperate times call for desperate measures."
