Image caption on page 33 of the book US National Library of Medicine: "By the mid-1870s, the Army Medical Museum and Library had outgrown its space at Ford's Theatre. This is the first set of plans for the new library and museum building, produced in 1880 and based upon Billings' ideas as translated into an architectural design by the firm Cluss & Schulze: a four-story building with a functional 'U' shape, with the left wing housing library Hall and the right wing housing the Museum."
