As of early 2016, an estimated 20 million additional individuals have gained health coverage as a result of provisions of the ACA. Additionally, as this brief estimates, the Medicaid expansion helps lower premiums for Marketplace enrollees; we estimate that Marketplace premiums are about 7 percent lower in states that expanded Medicaid compared to those that have not done so yet.
