Abstract:
Major General H.W. Halleck is relieved from duty as General-in-Chief by his own request, and will become Chief of Staff of the Army. Lieutenant General U.S. Grant will become General-in-Chief; Major General W.T. Sherman will command the Military Division of the Mississippi, and Major General J.B. McPherson will command the Department and Army of the Tennessee.
