From the original painting "Osler at Old Blockley," by Dean Cornwell, N.A., one of the series "Pioneers of American medicine" owned by John Wyeth & Brother. This painting depicts Dr. William Osler surrounded by his students at the bedside of an old patient in the hospital yard at Philadelphia's Old Blockley Hospital (now Philadelphia General) during the period 1884-1889. The old "Post House" shown in the background was used daily by Osler and his students. The restoration of this building, dedicated on June 8, 1940, as a permanent Osler Memorial, was made possible by a grant from John Wyeth & Brother.
