Abstract:
A nurse in a long white nursing gown with her face turning away from the audience is looking at the background where people are killing and fighting. There is a large, red cross behind her and flowers underneath her in the foreground. Gabriele D'Annunzio's name is on the postcard and the caption is taken from his book of poetry "Elettra", which explodes the ideology of nationalism. This postcard is probably dated around 1915 when Italy first joined World War I. Signed "A. Baliani" in lower right-hand corner.
