Address by Michael Heidelberger at the 50th anniversary celebration of the death of Louis Pasteur
Heidelberger, who had learned French in his youth from a governess, delivered this address in December, 1946, in Paris at the 50th anniversary commemoration of the death of Louis Pasteur. It was the first international scientific symposium after World War II. His hotel in Paris, a city still recovering from the deprivation of war, had heat for only two hours a day.
