Abstract:
In this letter, the secretary of the Medical Research Council, the main public sponsor of biomedical research in the United Kingdom, inquired whether Heidelberger would accept an offer to become director of an immunological research institute the MRC was establishing outside London. The offer was an expression of the high esteem accorded Heidelberger by his scientific colleagues.
