Abstract:
In this article, Heidelberger reviews both his own and his peers' major immunological and biochemical findings between late 1932 and late 1934. Heidelberger used this survey to summarize the progressive steps scientists were taking, in the face of persistent skepticism from a number of their colleagues, to prove the protein nature of antibodies and the multivalence of antigens and antibodies.
