Abstract:
Between 1950 and 1970, Fredrickson and his colleagues identified five major types of hereditary abnormalities in the way in which the body processes lipids such as fat and cholesterol (lipid metabolism). This was a major advance in our understanding of lipid metabolism and the risk it presents for coronary heart disease.
