Clara Rodriguez, who was separated from her Siamese twin sister Alta in December 1974, sent Koop this photograph from the Dominican Republic.. An inscription on the back translates to, "To my best friend Doctor Koop, a memento of my fifteenth birthday. Clara Rodriguez, 27-10-88, Much Love" (Clara's sister Alta choked to death at age 3 when she accidentally swallowed a bean.)
