Abstract:
Throughout the 1980s, Freis continued to counsel against the trend away from thiazide diuretics in treating hypertension. In this article, he and Papademetriou contended that the concern that diuretics were dangerous were mostly unfounded and this practice would make controlling hypertension more difficult.
