The electrocardiograph (ECG) was devised by Jack Klingeman, a specialist in non-invasive evaluation of cardiovascular disease. In this article, Freis joined with Klingeman, Kyle, Conrad, and Pipberger to evaluate a new automated ECG system that utilized computer technology. Freis took part in this evaluation because the software for the system was developed at the Veterans Administration.
