This lecture slide offers a schematic depiction of the expression of genes in Avian Sarcoma Virus. ASV has only four genes, depicted across the top of the drawing, one of which is the SRC oncogene, and another one of which codes for the DNA polymerase reverse transcriptase, an enzyme that directs the synthesis of viral RNA into the DNA, proviral form of the virus.
