Abstract:
This article demonstrates the connection Nirenberg sees between biochemical genetic research and neurobiology. The authors suggest that because genes determine neurotransmitter species, and gene expression is inherited and perpetuated for hundreds of generations, the study of neuronal tumors allows the researcher to explore the relationship between disease, heredity, and environmental influences.
