Abstract:
This article, written by the NIH team from the laboratory of Biochemical Genetics, provides an early example of Nirenberg's transition from genetics toward neurobiological topics. In his work on neuroblastoma cells seen here, experimental evidence suggests that axons appear to extend or retract differently depending on the history of their clonal life, suggesting a possible difference in gene expression.
