Abstract:
The genetic-neural code parallel that intrigued Nirenberg is showcased in the opening line of this article, which states: "It seems likely that a universal code has evolved which enables neurons to communicate with one another by sending and receiving information encoded in the form of neurotransmitters." The potential consequences of this statement are revealed in the article.
