In this article, her first on the mechanism of tuberculosis, Sabin and her colleagues presented evidence to show that tuberculosis infection causes an overproduction of monocytes and their derivatives, and alters the cytoplasmic activity of such cells so that they become a suitable medium for the tuberculosis mycobacterium.
