Abstract:
In this report, McClintock presented evidence from her own research and that of others to reassert her basic theoretical contention that controlling elements were indispensable for the normal functioning of plants, thus contradicting the argument made by Francois Jacob and Jacques Monod that controlling elements were foreign particles.
