This proposal provided the logic and general outline for the Rockefeller-funded program to train Latin American scholars in cytogenetics that McClintock took part in during the 1960s and 1970s. The program had the primary goals of increasing the scientific understanding of the genetic inheritance and history of maize and increasing the yield of corn crops in Latin America. This proposal addressed work to be completed with the Tuxpeno, Chalqueno, Conico, Mal-Tel, and a cross of Tuxpeno and Mal-Tel varieties of maize.
