Although Luria would not join the faculty at MIT until 1959, he maintained a relationship with the university's biology department beginning in the mid-1950s. In 1956, Luria was invited to help MIT further develop its life sciences programs--in part to determine what actions MIT would need to take to lure the scientist to the school. These were his recommendations.
