In his plenary address at the conclusion of the Dahlem Workshop on Organization and Expression of Chromosomes, held from May 17-22, 1976, in Berlin, Crick surveyed the state of the field of DNA research, focusing in particular on studies of the nucleosomes (a beadlike complex of histone, a type of protein, and DNA on the chromosomes of eukaryotic organisms) and on genetic cloning. Some of the most important work on the nucleosomes was being carried out by Crick's former colleague at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge, Aaron Klug, who is misidentified in the transcript as Aaron Cook.
