Notes for two lectures at MIT on chromosomes and gene expression in higher organisms
Notes for two lectures at MIT on chromosomes and gene expression in higher organisms
Contributor(s):
The Wellcome Library for the History and Understanding of Medicine. Francis Harry Compton Crick Papers Crick, Francis, 1916-2004
These two lectures were delivered on April 26 and 28, 1972, respectively. Whereas most experimental work on molecular genetics had been performed on prokaryotes, cellular organisms such as bacteria, which lack a true nucleus and nuclear membrane, Crick in his lectures discussed recent work on the genetic control of development in eukaryotes, higher organisms that do possess a true cell nucleus in which lie chromosomes combined with proteins.
